CAN I VIBECODE

Audible Premium Plus?

NOT REALLYA prototype of the interface is possible, but the durable product depends on difficult systems beyond the UI. Build a safer adjacent workflow instead.

BUILD FIRST

  1. A non-sensitive or read-only version of the core experience
  2. A manual review step wherever correctness or trust matters
  3. A narrow companion tool that removes a real piece of work

LEAVE FOR LATER

  1. Regulated decisions, payments, or irreversible actions
  2. Claims of correctness, compliance, or uptime that the MVP cannot support
  3. Sensitive integrations until security, support, and auditability are ready

RESEARCH NOTES

What this tool actually does.

Checked 2026-09-06

Audible Premium Plus is Amazon's paid audiobook subscription tier. Members receive 1 or 2 monthly credits (or 12/24 per year on annual plans) redeemable for any audiobook, including new releases; credit-purchased titles are owned permanently. It bundles the Plus Catalog, an all-you-can-listen library of thousands of included audiobooks, podcasts, and Audible Originals that can be streamed or downloaded while the membership is active. Credits roll over up to 6 and expire after one year; extra credits can be bought at a discount. Members get exclusive sales and discounts on additional purchases. Listening happens via the Audible mobile app or online player with offline downloads. Plans are cancel-anytime and pausable; canceling revokes Plus Catalog access (titles show a lock icon) but keeps credit-purchased titles. US pricing: Plus $7.95/mo, Premium Plus $14.95/mo, Premium Plus Annual $149

RESEARCHED BUILD PROMPT

Give this to your coding agent.

Build 'ShelfCast', a functional replacement for the Audible Premium Plus workflow (audiobook subscription combining monthly credits with a streaming catalog). Workflow: a user signs up, picks a plan (1 or 2 monthly credits), browses a searchable catalog of audiobooks/podcasts/Originals, redeems a credit to permanently own any title, streams any Plus-Catalog title, downloads titles for offline playback, listens via a player (play/pause, seek, playback speed, sleep timer, chapter skip), tracks listening progress per title, and can pause or cancel (cancel revokes catalog access but keeps owned titles). Requirements: auth with member/admin roles; a credit ledger that grants monthly credits, rolls over to a max of 6, expires after 12 months, and supports buying extra credits; catalog metadata (title, author, narrator, duration, cover); an ownership-vs-rental access model with a locked state after cancellation; player with synced progress; admin panel to add titles and grant credits. Implementation: Next.js + TypeScript front end, Node/Express or Next API routes, PostgreSQL (or SQLite for demo) with Prisma, JWT sessions, and sample audio files or generated tones for playback. Do not copy the Audible brand, logo, cover art, marketing copy, or UI; use original naming and a distinct design. Out of scope: real audiobook licensing/DRM, payment processing, native mobile apps, podcast production, and reviews/social features. Include a README with setup steps, demo seed data, and important limitations (mock audio, no real purchases, credit-expiry behavior).
