CAN I VIBECODE

DocuSign?

NOT REALLYA prototype of the interface is possible, but the durable product depends on difficult systems beyond the UI. Build a safer adjacent workflow instead.

BUILD FIRST

  1. A non-sensitive or read-only version of the core experience
  2. A manual review step wherever correctness or trust matters
  3. A narrow companion tool that removes a real piece of work

LEAVE FOR LATER

  1. Regulated decisions, payments, or irreversible actions
  2. Claims of correctness, compliance, or uptime that the MVP cannot support
  3. Sensitive integrations until security, support, and auditability are ready

RESEARCH NOTES

What this tool actually does.

Checked 2026-09-06

DocuSign eSignature is a cloud-based electronic signature platform for preparing, sending, signing, and managing agreements. Senders upload documents (PDF, Word, Excel, text, and more, from local storage or cloud drives like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive), add recipients by email, choose serial, parallel, or mixed signing order, and drag-and-drop fields (signature, initials, name, title, date, text, numbers, currency, notes) onto pages. Recipients get an emailed link, follow guided tabs, sign on any device, and finish; both parties keep stored copies. Features include reusable templates, bulk send, conditional routing, web forms that pre-populate agreements via APIs, AI-assisted agreement type detection and summary/Q&A, signer authentication, automatic reminders, and a dashboard with status, reports, and audit trails. Completed documents carry a PKI-based tamper seal and a certificate

RESEARCHED BUILD PROMPT

Give this to your coding agent.

Build 'SignFlow', a self-hosted web app recreating the core DocuSign eSignature workflow: upload a PDF, define an envelope with ordered recipients, place signature/initial/date/text fields on pages, email signing links, and collect audit records. User-facing requirements: (1) upload PDFs and render pages for field placement; (2) drag-and-drop field types (signature, initial, date, text, checkbox) per recipient with required/optional flags; (3) recipient management with serial or parallel signing order and email notifications; (4) signer view with guided field-by-field navigation, typed or drawn signature capture, and completion confirmation; (5) sender dashboard listing envelopes with status (draft, sent, signed, declined, expired), reminders, and a per-envelope audit log (viewed, sent, signed, declined, timestamps, IP); (6) downloadable final PDF with embedded signature images and a completion certificate page. Technical requirements: Node.js/Express or Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL for envelopes/recipients/fields/audit, React frontend, PDF.js or pdf-lib for rendering and stamping, JWT auth, SMTP email via Resend or Mailgun, and a background job (node-cron/Celery) for reminders and expiry. Store signed PDFs in S3-compatible storage. Do not copy DocuSign's brand, logo, marketing copy, or UI; use an original name and neutral design. Out of scope: mobile apps, web forms, template library, bulk send, AI features, identity verification/KYC, PKI certificates, and legal compliance guarantees. Include a README covering setup (env vars, DB migration, seed data), architecture, and important limitations (demo-grade audit trail, not legally binding, single-node email delivery).
