LnkFlow?
BUILD FIRST
- One specific customer type and one primary use case
- A vertical slice that completes the main job without manual workarounds
- Visible limits, review steps, and a fallback when an external dependency fails
LEAVE FOR LATER
- Broad third-party integrations
- High-scale collaboration, syncing, and permissions
- Automation that can cause harm without human review
RESEARCH NOTES
What this tool actually does.
LnkFlow is a SaaS link-tracking and marketing-attribution platform. Users paste a long URL, label it with creator/campaign/platform, and receive a short branded link. Sharing that link anywhere (bio, story, newsletter, ad, DM) captures every click server-side, so ad-blocked visits are counted. The dashboard shows clicks over time, top referrers, countries, devices, and per-creator rankings. It supports conversion/revenue attribution, GA4 and Meta CAPI forwarding, UTM attribution, and AI/agentic workflows for bulk link creation and plain-language reports. Paid plans are traffic-based (10K–500K+ clicks/month) with limits on active links, branded domains, data history, and team seats.
RESEARCHED BUILD PROMPT
Give this to your coding agent.
Build a self-contained web app that reproduces LnkFlow's core workflow: link creation, branded short URLs, and server-side click attribution. Do not copy LnkFlow's brand, UI, wording, or design. The app should let a user paste a destination URL, optionally enter a campaign/channel/creator label, and get a short link on a configurable custom domain (or a built-in default). Every click on that link must be logged server-side before any client redirect, storing timestamp, IP-hash, User-Agent, referrer, country (via GeoIP library), and the label. The dashboard must show click counts over time, top referrers, countries, devices, and a per-creator/campaign leaderboard that can be filtered by date range. Include bot filtering (by User-Agent or known IP ranges) and a per-link conversion goal tracking endpoint (e.g., POST /api/goal with link ID) to record conversions. Implement a simple REST API for creating links, updating labels, fetching stats, and deleting links. Use a PostgreSQL database, a Redis-free design (keep it simple), and a Node.js/Express backend with a static frontend (plain JS or React). Hash IPs with a salt to protect privacy. Make server-side click counting work behind a reverse proxy by using the real client IP (set trust proxy). Support exporting stats as CSV. Document all setup steps (env vars, database migration, GeoIP data file, custom domain DNS) in a README, and list important limitations (e.g., no real ad-blocker bypass if the link is fetched via client-side JS before the server redirect; this demo counts clicks at the server redirect layer). Out of scope: multi-tenant billing, team roles, GA4/Meta CAPI integrations, AI/agentic natural-language reporting, bulk link CSV import UI, and a polished marketing page. The final deliverable must be a runnable repo with the README and no reliance on any proprietary service.
