CAN I VIBECODE

ResearchRabbit?

NOT REALLYA prototype of the interface is possible, but the durable product depends on difficult systems beyond the UI. Build a safer adjacent workflow instead.

BUILD FIRST

  1. A non-sensitive or read-only version of the core experience
  2. A manual review step wherever correctness or trust matters
  3. A narrow companion tool that removes a real piece of work

LEAVE FOR LATER

  1. Regulated decisions, payments, or irreversible actions
  2. Claims of correctness, compliance, or uptime that the MVP cannot support
  3. Sensitive integrations until security, support, and auditability are ready

RESEARCH NOTES

What this tool actually does.

Checked 2026-09-06

ResearchRabbit is a web-based AI literature review and research discovery tool, not a traditional read-it-later service. Users start from one paper and expand their search through related works, authors, and emerging topics. Papers are saved into color-coded collections; an Article Inspector displays abstracts. The Library includes a Reading List with per-project, personal statuses (Later, Up Next, Understood) for tracking reading progress. Built-in visualizations map paper and author connections and show how topics evolve over time. Personal statuses are not shared across projects or teammates.

RESEARCHED BUILD PROMPT

Give this to your coding agent.

Build a web app for literature discovery inspired by ResearchRabbit's workflow: a researcher starts with one paper, finds related works and authors, saves papers to named collections, tags them on a personal reading list (Later/Up Next/Understood), and explores an interactive network graph of connected papers. User-facing requirements: search by title/DOI, paper detail drawer with abstract, collection management with color tagging, per-project reading statuses that don't sync across projects, graph view clustering papers by shared authors/topics, and a Recently Saved panel. Technical requirements: React + TypeScript frontend, Node/Express backend, PostgreSQL for collections and statuses, and an external scholarly API (e.g., OpenAlex) for paper metadata and citation edges — do not scrape or mimic ResearchRabbit itself. Use a force-directed graph library like d3-force or vis-network. Do not copy ResearchRabbit's branding, logo, copy, or visual UI; invent an original name and a clean minimal interface. Out of scope: PDF parsing, full-text search, AI-generated summaries, plagiarism detection, multi-user collaboration, and mobile apps. Deliver a README covering local setup, required API keys, and known limitations (e.g., citation coverage gaps, rate limits). Clearly state what this build replaces and what it deliberately omits.
