RESEARCH NOTES
What this tool actually does.
Sejda Web is the browser-based PDF editor from Sejda, distinct from its local Desktop app. Files are uploaded over an encrypted connection and permanently deleted after processing. Users can upload from Dropbox or Google Drive. The editor supports adding and editing text (font family, size, color, bold/italic), adding images, shapes, hyperlinks, and form fields (text, multiline, dropdown, checkbox, radio). It also fills existing PDF forms, adds checkmarks/radio bullets, covers content with a whiteout tool, and annotates with highlight/strikethrough. Find-and-replace and signature creation using typed handwriting styles are included. After edits, users click Apply Changes and Download. The wider Sejda tool family also offers compression, conversion to Office/image formats, splitting and merging, visual page reordering, cropping/rotating/deleting/resizing pages, watermarks, page numbers/he
RESEARCHED BUILD PROMPT
Give this to your coding agent.
Build a focused web app replacement for Sejda Web's PDF editing workflow: users upload a PDF (or select from cloud storage stubs), edit it in-browser, then apply and download the result. The MVP must support: encrypted upload with server-side temp storage and automatic deletion after download/timeout; Dropbox/Google Drive picker stubs; click-to-add text; editing existing text with font family, size, color, bold/italic; adding images and shapes; adding and filling form fields (text, multiline, dropdown, checkbox, radio); a whiteout rectangle; highlight/strikethrough annotations; find-and-replace; and signature creation via typed handwriting styles. After edits, an 'Apply changes' step rasterizes/flattens changes into a downloaded PDF. Use React + TypeScript for the front end, a Node or Python backend, pdf-lib for PDF manipulation, pdfjs-dist for rendering, and Multer for uploads. Keep all processing server-side; enforce a per-file size limit and auto-delete. Do not copy Sejda branding, logo, or UI layout — invent a new neutral design. Out of scope: advanced conversion, merge/split, Bates stamping, desktop offline mode, and accounts. Include a README with setup, local run instructions, and important limitations (e.g., pdf-lib cannot perfectly preserve all original interactive forms/annotations without rasterization).
